Taiwanese Drama - Extravagant Challenge / Skip Beat

Okay girls! warm your heart with this 2 handsome man from Super Junior. Did i say Super Junior?, yup they're famous group of K-Pop (Korean group) but this is Taiwanese drama! yes they're the main lead in this T-drama called Extravagant Challenge an adaptation from popular manga SKIP BEAT. The series just started on December 2011 it become a phenomenon to the young girls in Taiwan because of this 2 guys Choi Siwon and Lee Donghae from Super Junior - M.

I watch mainly because this 2 guys. For me the story line not good as the manga/anime. Even the plot is same but can't stop from comparing with the manga story. Then i think Tsuruga Ren character which in manga portrayed as a cool, mature and has a bit devil look ^-^ is not really suitable with Choi Siwon personalities which Siwon look much more younger and he got soft and warm look. But for Donghae character as Sho Fuwa i like it so much. Also its look a bit weird since these guys when filming the drama they talk in korean language and their voice has been dub with Taiwanese actor later on. Since i'm a big fan of Choi Siwon when watch his face but heard not his voice it turn off my mood.

Maybe you guys should try watch this drama and before that let's read some preview about it!!!

SBS Drama "Brilliant Legacy" Will Be Remade in Taiwanese version

I adore this guy since i watch him in "Meteor Garden" Jerry Yan as Dao Meng shi...he really awesome in that series. So now he back with another drama adaptation from SBS drama "Brilliant Legacy" an will play a same role with Lee Seung gi.

Let's read some of the news

SBS’s 2009 highly-rated drama “Brilliant Legacy” (or “Shining Inheritance”) gets a Chinese incarnation. The Han Hyo Joo – Lee Seung Gi starrer, an inspirational, Cinderella story about the reversal of fortunes, family and love, is confirmed to begin production with Jerry Yan in the leading role.

The Taiwanese actor will be joined by Chinese actress Yedda Chen, who will step into the role originated by Han Hyo Joo. Acting veteran Fang Fang will take on the pivotal role of the grandmother.

Early reports on the synopsis of the remake, to be called “My Brilliant Life” (translated title) will follow its source material closely, but with the main characters likely a little older given the actors’ ages. The remake was announced at the Shanghai Television Festival held earlier in the month, with the cast in attendance.

“My Brilliant Life” follows in the footsteps of Korean dramas being remade abroad. Most recently, ongoing production of “Ikemen Desu ka,” Japan’s adaptation of “You’re Beautiful,” also a 2009 drama from SBS has made the news.

Hayate The Combat Butler In Taiwan Live action Drama

Is not only 'Skip Beat' will had a Live action drama....now 'Hayate The Combat Butler' follow the lead to get live action drama. This original series from shoujo ai manga/anime will get adaptation by Taiwan Network company and will be broadcast for Taiwanese. Recently i think a lot of actor/actress or Korean idol try to boost film/drama industry in taiwan. Same with this drama the lead actress will be Park Shin Hye actress that popular with drama 'You're beautiful'.

Let's see some report about the drama recently:-

Park Shin Hye, star of the upcoming “Heartstrings,” was in Taiwan over the weekend to promote her Taiwanese series “Hayate the Combat Butler,” co-starring George Hu.

In different promotional activities, Park Shin Hye revealed stories about her co-stars, anecdotes on her experience shooting the drama and other interesting tidbits about her stay in Taiwan.

“George is more manly,” the actress reveals of her co-lead, comparing the feel of her kissing scenes in “Hayate the Combat Butler” with those she did with Jang Geun Suk in the 2009 hit “You’re Beautiful.” She said Jang Geun Suk was like an older brother.

Because of the language difference, the two “Hayate” leads communicated through simple English, progressing from hand gestures and facial expressions in the beginning. George once taught Shin Hye to speak a line to be delivered in Chinese, which earned teasing from the crew that Shin Hye now speaks better Chinese
than George.

Upon touching down in Taipei, the busy actress went straight to the venue for a “Meet and Greet” event with fans. “Hayate the Combat Butler” is based on the Japanese anime of the same name and will begin airing on Taiwanese TV on June 19th.

Meanwhile, Park Shin Hye is currently shooting youth melodrama “Heartstrings,” with another “You’re Beautiful” co-star, Jung Yong Hwa. “Heartstrings” will premiere on MBC on June 29th.

Falling in love with own sister! - Devil Beside You

When i read Lovey Dovey manga, it's remind me with this Taiwanese Drama back in 2005. I love this T-Drama, Mike He so handsome and cool. I know Rainie Yang from 'Meteor Garden' as a best friend to San Chai. Actually the character between Lovey Dovey Manga & Devil beside you is almost the same in someway.
Actually this drama is base from Manga series Akuma de Sourou (The Devil Does Exist). I just read the manga recently it's awesome. It published in 1999 with 41 chapter and the drama come with 20 episode. But the reception in ASIAN towards this drama is not as huge as 'Meteor garden' franchise. Me too watched this drama a year after the broadcast when 'Meteor Garden' gave a huge impact for Taiwanese drama in Asia.
Is simple, romantic, heart warming and lot of lovely scene. The character of 'Ahmon/Ah Meng' that attract me with this drama (not to mention Mike He so COOL).

STORY:

The story begins with Qi Yue planning to confess her liking to the basketball team captain, Yuan Yi. She wrote a love letter and plans to pass it to him. Being as careless as only she can be, she has made her confession to the wrong person, who happened to be the school's devil, Ah Meng (her junior, a first year student in school). She is so shocked and embarrassed to see Ah Meng's face that she drops her love letter in front of Ah Meng and runs away. Ah Meng picks up the letter.
Ah Meng is amused by the whole thing and decides to have some fun with Qi Yue. He threatens Qi Yue to print a thousand copies of her love letter and let the whole school know of her liking for Yuan Yi. In order to stop Ah Meng, Qi Yue agrees to be his 'runner'.

With Ah Meng's continuous bullying of Qi Yue, she is driven to stop all the nonsense by confessing her liking to Yuan Yi again. In this way, she will not be afraid of Ah Meng's disclosing the love letter anymore. To Qi Yue's surprise, Yuan Yi has a similar liking for her.
While Qi Yue assumes that the whole ordeal with the devil is going to end, she receives another piece of bad news - her mom is going to marry the school's chairman who is also Ah Meng's father, which means Ah Meng is going to be her stepbrother.

Qi Yue's love letter is being put up on the school notice board and she misunderstands that it is Ah Meng who did it. She confronts him and storms off. After realizing that she has misunderstood Ah Meng, she apologises to Ah Meng and pleads him to hit her so that she feels better - Ah Meng kisses her instead. Yuan Yi happens to see them kissing and confronts their relationship, Ah Meng yells at Yuan Yi, saying that he wants Qi Yue. After Yuan Yi runs away in anger, Qi Yue looks at Ah Meng and begins to sob. After Qi Yue walks away in tears, Ah Meng has a strong feeling of guilt.
Yuan Yi regrets not believing in Qi Yue and returns to her, asking her out on a date. Qi Yue agrees happily. On their first date, they met Ah Meng again. Qi Yue and Ah Meng have some misunderstandings and they went separate ways.
Qi Yue finally realizes that the person she likes is Ah Meng. She tells Yuan Yi the truth and walks away. In the evening, she sits alone at the playground, crying softly to herself for hurting Yuan Yi. Ah Meng finds her and comforts her.

Due to their relationship as future stepsiblings, they keep their romantic relationship in the dark. Except for some close friends of Ah Meng & Qi Yue, nobody knows of their relationship.
Ah Meng's grandmother suspects that Ah Meng and Qi Yue are seeing each other. She plans to matchmake Ah Meng with a rich girl, Mei Di, which Qi Yue feels sad and uncertain. At the same time, Qi Yue's first love reappears as her school lecturer (Ah Sen). This causes Ah Meng to be jealous and he feels insecure. Ah Meng rejects Mei Di and she left wishing Qi Yue and him happiness. Similarly, Qi Yue tells Ah Sen that she likes Ah Meng and he goes back to his girlfriend.

Following that adventure, Ah Meng and Qi Yue take advantage of their parents' out of town trip to travel to see Qi Yue's father's grave. They get caught in a rain storm and discover that the train is not running. Ah Meng gets a hotel room, but Qi Yue can't stand the tension and makes the trip back home to find her mother waiting for her. She finally confesses that she and Ah Meng are a couple. Since this is going to be a problem for the family, her mother decides that they will have to move out of the house. However, when she faints, they find out that she's pregnant. Though it isn't proper, they decide that they will support Ah Meng and Qi Yue's relationship, and continue their own.
While things seem to be going fine again, Ah Meng's mom comes back and wants Ah Meng to go to Italy with her to pursue his studies. When Ah Meng finally agrees to go with her, Qi Yue is heartbroken. At the playground, Ah Meng tells Qi Yue that she can continue to date other people while he is away but he will always like her only. They embrace. Together, they decided it was time to have their "first time" together. They attend their parents' wedding a few days afterwards.......
Main Character:
  • Qi Yue: Qi Yue is a sweet and innocent sophomore in college who lives with her widowed mother. She is very shy and sometimes clueless, but has a loyal and kind heart that shines even through the toughest of times. She harbors a crush on the captain of the basketball team, Yuan Yi, but her life is turned upside-down by Ahmon. Eventually, she falls out of love with Yuan Yi and starts developing feelings for Ahmon. She constantly worries about him and their relationship being discovered. Qi Yue is also one of the managers of the basketball team. Although it hurts for her to accept that Jiang Meng is her future brother, she still continues to love the devil boy.
  • Jiang Meng: Nicknamed Ah Meng and Ahmon by his fellow peers, he is the son of the president of the school. He is a freshman at the college, yet he has power over his teachers due to his father's position. Ahmon is also frightening to a lot of people and is known to bully girls, yet he is also known as the "prince of seduction." Despite his cool composure and "bad" attitude, Ahmon has a gentle side and often sticks up for what is right. Li Xiang has a crush on him, which he does not reciprocate, but Ahmon has feelings for Qi Yue. Although she is his future stepsister (elder), he does love her and enjoys teasing her. He knows that she loves him but gets jealous when he finds out that there are new people that are pursuing her. Ahmon also joins the basketball team and has faster reflexes than rival Yuan Yi's. Ah Meng also has a little brother.
  • Shang Yuan Yi: Yuan Yi is a boy in Qi Yue's class (teasingly nicknamed "Ah Yi (Auntie in Chinese)", and is the captain of the basketball team. Qi Yue is initially in love with Yuan Yi for his gentle personality. Yuan Yi reciprocates her feelings and they become a couple. When Qi Yue falls in love with Ahmon, she breaks up with Yuan Yi, wishing not to lead him on. Yuan Yi is angry and hostile towards Ahmon at first, but gets over it and realizes his feelings for Qing Zi after she kisses him and he admits that he has feelings towards Qi Yue but he also knows he has no more chance because of Ahmon..

  • Qing Zi: Qing Zi is Qi Yue's outspoken best friend. She and Xiao Cai are the ones who encourages Qi Yue to confess her love to Yuan Yi, even though Qing Zi herself had a crush on him. Qing Zi cares for Qi Yue a lot and spends a lot of effort in helping her. After Qi Yue and Yuan Yi break up, Qing Zi starts dating Yuan Yi. Qing Zi and Yuan Yi's relationship is tested when Qing Zi feels that Yuan Yi is spending more time playing basketball than being with her. Feeling dejected, she meets with a stranger she chatted with online. She later gets into a tussle with him and Yuan Yi comes to her rescue instead of playing in the team's basketball match. When her father gets a new job, he forces her to emigrate with him, taking her away from Yuan Yi and her friends. Yuan Yi, in order to keep her with him, challenges her father, a skilled swordsman.

How far u can do to be with your idol? - Hana Kimi (Japan drama)

If you’re looking for a High School drama filled with yearning romance, hilarious situations, and boys who are (or think they are) gay, then this is the drama for you! There are photo shoots, bullying, beaches, treasure hunts, sports, with a little bit of alcohol and cross-dressing on the side. Great fun!

It was a good tale, if a little on the stale side with some of the plotlines. But only some! The overall plot is mixed up a bit with the main character (Mizuki) pretending to be a boy, with just the right amount of Drama and Angst to keep a viewer interested.
I think the characters were the reason I was watch this drama. I absolutely love dramatic interactions between the people in the series and this has it all! There are relationships that range from romantic to fanatic and back again. Great stuff.
Now, how many people will crossdress and secretly attend an all boys just to meet their idol? Not very many, although there might be those select few of you out there (How you pull that off is beyond me. n_n;; But good luck to you). Anyway... Miizuki Ashiya does just that. This somewhat simple gesture turns her world, also those of her male classmates upside down--even going as far as making one of them believe that he is gay! It's a giggle-fest all the way and it is just too irresistible.

Ōsaka Gakuen or Ohsaka Gakuen as written in the entrance gate of the school in the Japanese drama adaptation, is an all-boys school where the series is set in. Its sister school is St. Blossoms, an all-girls high school, where the students are the exact equivalent of those in Osaka Gakuen.
There are three classes for each of the three school years. These nine classes are divided into three dormitories, as most of the students do not stay around the school area. The culture within the individual dormitories are immensely different.
Students residing in the first dormitory are mainly made up of athletes as most of them got into Osaka High on a sports scholarship. Their head of dormitory is Tennouji. The head of dormitory for the second dormitory is Minami Nanba. Their dorm has a mix of athletes and scholars in which students get sports of academic scholarships to enter the school. The third dormitory consists mainly of artistic and intelligent people and is headed by Masao Himejima. Inter-dorm rivalries are common and would get particularly intense during the school's cultural festival.

Main Character

Mizuki Ashiya

Mizuki Ashiya is the female protagonist of the series. She admired Izumi Sano the moment she saw him high jump on TV. She diguises herself as a boy in order to enroll herself into Sano's school, Osaka Gakuen which allows her to get closer with Sano. She is a fun-loving, cheerful and optimistic character who cares deeply for her family and friends. Unfortunately, despite her kind heart, she is what one would call dense, so the secret of her gender has to constantly be protected by Sano. She has an older brother who arrived in Japan with the intent of bringing her home, but was forced to allow her to stay. It is suggested in the manga that the protectiveness of her older brother and her sheltered life in general has contributed to her frank and trusting nature, as well as her inability to hide her emotions.
She was portrayed by Maki Horikita in the Japanese drama adaptation and Ella Chen in the Taiwanese drama adaptation.

Izumi Sano

Izumi Sano is the male protagonist of the series. An excellent high jumper before entering high school, he stopped for personal reasons when he entered high school. He found out Mizuki's true gender due to an accident early in the series. When he was young, his parents were involved in a car accident which killed his mother, impacting the family deeply. Sano ran away from home because of disagreements with his father but father and son reconcile in the end.
He was portrayed by Shun Oguri in the Japanese drama adaptation and Wu Zun in the Taiwanese drama adaptation.

Shuichi Nakatsu

Nakatsu is one of the students in living in the second dormitory. He likes Mizuki but he doesn't know that she is really a girl, causing some of his classmates to believe that he is homosexual. However, it is suggested that he is merely attracted to Mizuki's femininity which she has trouble hiding. When Nakatsu discovers Sano's feelings for Mizuki, he gives them his blessings in order to protect his friendship with Sano and let Mizuki be happy with the one she loves.
He was portrayed by Toma Ikuta in the Japanese drama adaptation and Jiro Wang in the Taiwanese drama adaptation.

Manga/Anime
The manga series was first serialized in the 20th issue of Hakusensha's semi-monthly shōjo manga magazine, Hana to Yume in 1996. Its serialization continued where the series ended with 23 collected volumes with 144 chapters without including 5 special chapters that were published during the series' serialization and another 5 special chapters that were published after the series ended.

The series' 23 volumes were first published under the Hana to Yume Comics. It was then later re-published into 12 volumes of aizōban under the Hana to Yume Comics Special imprint. Each volume featured a new cover illustration and design as well as colored pages.

Hana-Kimi was also published in English by Viz Media. The English release was previously only limited to Waldenbooks from February to May 2004. It was then made available to other retail stores after May that year. The English title originated from a fan abbreviation of the original Japanese title as the official U.S. translation ends the title with a he instead of e.
