Is not easy to be an actress!! - Skip Beat (manga/anime)

It's always a shock when you start submerging yourself in a story that you don't think will be that interesting and suddenly find yourself completely lost in it. Being a big fan of stories about the underdog, I'd have to say, Skip Beat! definitely captivated me; you're pulled in and can't stop reading wondering what will happen next.
The characters themselves are very unique and well developed. The main character turns out to be a young heroine, Mogami Kyoko, probably one of my favorite characters. Her natural frankness and unsurpassed perseverance makes you just want to root for her even though the way she was introduced into the entertainment world is so unusual. Despite being undermined and looked down upon, it's just amazing how much she achieves and shines. Besides Kyoko, there are so many characters that you meet in the story, each with their own complex story and background. The characters are so dynamic, each in their own way that it just makes you want to know more about every single one of them.

It's no surprise that the characters themselves are so well developed since even those characters have to try act out other characters within the story, almost like a story within the story. The main storyline is quite simple, but the complexity lies within the background of each actor, each character. As you read on, you find out that everyone has a secret that they don't wish to be revealed, and that must be how it is in the entertainment industry.

As far as art is concerned, I must say that I have no complaints at all, although the author does tend to "chibi" forms a lot probably because of the difficulty and detail involved with each character. However, when it comes to the crucial moments, the expressions and looks on the faces of each character are amazing. When a character looks angry, it sends chills down your spine. The author certainly breathes life into each character. A smile can be from genuine to cruel to down right evil.

Overall, I loved the characters and the story development of Skip Beat! If you enjoy stories about the underdog, someone with a little bit of talent and a lot of perseverance, then I definitely recommend giving Skip Beat! a read.
Skip Beat! is a Japanese shōjo manga by Yoshiki Nakamura. It is the story of Kyoko Mogami 16-year-old girl who discovers that her childhood friend and romantic goal, Sho Fuwa, only keeps her around to act as a maid and earn his living expenses, as he works his way to become the top pop idol in Japan. Furious and heart broken, she vows to get revenge by beating him in show business. In Japan, the manga was first published in Hakusensha's shōjo in February 2002, while in the United States, it began publishing under Viz Media's Shojo Beat label in 2006. As of June 2008, nineteen volumes have been released in Japan, and as of May 2009, eighteen volumes have been released in the United States.
In 2002, a drama CD adaptation was made and released by Marine Entertainment, and covers the first volume (chapters one to five) of the manga. An anime adaptation is produced by Hal Film Maker, and began airing October 5, 2008. It ended airing with episode twenty-five on July 12, 2009.

The plot of the manga/anime
Skip Beat! follows the story of Kyoko Mogami, a sixteen year-old girl who loves her childhood friend, Sho Fuwa (Shotaro), but is betrayed by him. Having spent a large part of her childhood at Shotaro's parents' inn, she learned a great deal about hostelry and other such jobs.
Shotaro, not wishing to take over his parents' business, moves to Tokyo to pursue a career in music. Sho, as he is called by his fans, asks Kyoko to leave high school and her life in Kyoto Prefecture behind to help him. Upon arrival in Tokyo, Kyoko lives an unreasonably frugal life, spending nothing on herself and doing whatever she can for Sho, who eventually becomes ranked seventh of the top twenty most popular entertainers of Japan. One day, she overhears Shotaro complaining about her to his manager, saying that she is a boring and plain girl.
He proceeds to sweet-talk and flirt with his manager, in stark contrast to the cold and demanding attitude he usually exhibits towards Kyoko. Kyoko doesn't shed many tears when she learns that Sho thinks she's only good for housekeeping. Instead, her "Pandora's box" opens and she vows vengeance on Sho.
As she is carried away by security, Sho mockingly tells her that if she wants revenge, she had better become a bigger star than him. And so, Kyoko changes her appearance and enters the entertainment industry, facing many challenges along the way.
Skip Beat! follows Kyoko's journey to climb the showbiz ladder as she meets interesting people, troublemakers and friends alike, with hopes of getting revenge on Shotaro, as well as regaining the sense of compassion that she had lost when her heart was broken by him. As Kyoko cultivates her acting and friendships, she soon discovers a sense of self separate from her initial plans for revenge.

The main character

Kyouko
Kyouko's life has always known only one aim-- to please others. Be it her mother who didn't care much for her, or Sho's family, who took her in after she was abandoned. Suddenly, childhood friend Sho asks country bumpkin Kyouko if she wants to go to the city with him. He aims to be a big star and wishes for her support. When he commits an unthinkable crime to Kyouko's frail self-esteem, he awakens another side in her.

She changes from being an innocent girl to a woman full of the desire of revenge towards the man that used her like a stepping stone; but she didn't know that, in her way to making him suffer and cry at her feet, she would begin a whole new life into the show business and find herself having a great talent and love towards acting.
Now Kyouko is some sort of cute, joyful, and full-of-purpose woman...while also being a "woman who holds grudges" and acts in some crazy and unexpected ways, although she is still not able to recognize her own value and talent, and even less the way other people see her.
(In the Manga)
While not aware of her talent, Kyouko is very protective of her love life as she is also very dense with people's word with her. She's afraid to love again due to Fuwa Shou abandoning her. Tsuruga Ren as her senpai is in very close relationship to her and might as well be in love with her. On the other side Shou wants his existence in her life to be the biggest for he knows that Kyouko won't forgive him so easily. During the shooting for "Dark Moon" she encounters 'Vie Ghoul' a band out to destroy Shou. The vocalist Reino was interested in Kyouko and the trouble begins.
Ren Tsuruga

Ren is, in outward appearances, an extremely nice and polite star. However, he shows his true self whenever he deals with Kyoko. Although at times teasing, he harbors an unrequited love for Kyoko. As the story progresses, flashbacks reveal a past with Kyoko when she was smaller, however, Kyoko is still unaware of this. She cannot reconcile the sweet "fairy-prince Corn" with Ren's current personality. Interestingly, at the age of twenty, Ren has lived a large portion of his life in America. In fact, he began his acting career in the US albeit disastrously.
Although he gained experience, he was fired so often that he has lost count in contrast to the staunch and disciplined actor he is today. Fortunately, his past in America is unknown to the public as Tsuruga Ren is only a stage name. Although there are hints of a dark past, his earlier years are shrouded in mystery. However, recent chapters imply that his name was originally Kuon.

Fuwa Shoutaro

His real name is Shoutarou. He keeps it hidden because he finds it as a very old and traditional name.He natural hair color is brown but he later bleached them blonde. He is a typical stuck-up star, and is also very ruthless. Shō had no qualms about tricking Kyoko into going with him to Tokyo so she could be a free servant for him. He also had even less qualms about being extremely cruel to her when she discovered this. Shō eventually figured out that Kyoko was in L.M.E., and was surprised to see her transformation. It is also revealed that he has more feelings for her than he originally thought, though most of these lean toward a general possessiveness for Kyoko, who had been his constant companion and servant since childhood.

A cool Samurai dono!! - Samurai High School

Like i said that i love this guy Miura Haruma. This is another of his drama 'Samurai High School'. Even though this drama is not a heavy drama like bloody Monday but its amusing. In this drama Miura need to be 2 different type personalities. To be a coward student but a different person when he posses by a samurai spirit that turn out to be his ancestor spirit.
He play his role very well. a different between both personalities from a just normal high school student to a brave, mature and serious samurai dono he really good. Also he look really cool when he turn to be the Samurai and for this drama he train and build his body muscle to show the strongest and well build samurai. Lucky for the fan girls of miura ^_^.
But this drama is not a really good drama. The plot is too week. Its just enough to entertain you. Just take a look on the preview below:-

The Plot

Mochizuki Kotaro is a mild-mannered, unmanly high school student who is typically a mild, passive young man at home and school.

One day, he visits a library and meets the mysterious librarian Himiko, who recommends to him an ancient book about a heroic general from the Sengoku period 400 years ago. Kotaro notices that he has the same name and age as the general described in the book, and he experiences a flashback...
Kotaro later mentions the book to his father, who tells him that he may be the descendent of a powerful samurai. At that moment, Kotaro receives a message from his childhood friend Ai telling him that their classmate Nakamura Tsuyoshi is in trouble. He rushes to the scene but doesn't have the guts to help, until another flashback transforms him into a samurai. Then begin this unusual new hero, a samurai high school student, uses the samurai spirit of the commanders of the warring states period to overcome difficulties.

The Wallflower? - Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (Japan Drama)

Its a 2009/2010 Japan drama that i watch it after i finished watching you're beautiful. Because on that time its been ranking in 1st place of popular drama in Dramacrazy.net. first off, i think this story not as good as you comparing with the manga and anime with the same title.

But i like the lead actor Kazuya Kamenshi (Leader of KAT-TUN) Jpop group. I use to watch other drama and his movie. For me he really cool guy and good in acting like miura haruma. This drama a bit weird for those who never read the manga and its Romance fantasy drama.

Drama Review

The Wallflower is about a girl who was called "ugly" by a boy, the first and only person to whom she confessed her love. This incident sparks a life change, and as a result Sunako shuns all forms of beauty, both in herself as well as in life. Concerned by her change for the worst, Sunako's aunt, the owner of a beautiful mansion where four very handsome students live that are Kyouhei Takano, Takenaga Oda, Yukinojo Toyama, and Ranmaru Morii. She offers the guys free rent in her mansion if they can turn Sunako into a "perfect lady" (referred to in Japan as the titular Yamato Nadeshiko).

While the four of them manage to make Sunako physically beautiful enough to become a lady, the problem lies with her attitude and interests (which Sunako has no intention of changing). Up until the most recent release in the story, they've managed to convince Sunako's aunt that her niece is indeed a lady befitting the mansion in which they live (and prevent the rent from skyrocketing to triple the required amount). However, in reality, Sunako has not changed considerably. Sunako is a masochist that like creepy and horror thing. She can't face a person without hiding in her big cloth robe and don't like a sunlight.

In the change process to make Sunako a perfect lady, Kyouhei starting to fall in love with Sunako.

Character

Sunako Nakahara

Voiced by: Yukiko Takaguchi (Japanese), Hannah Alcorn (English), Live-Action: Aya Ōmasa

The female lead, Sunako locked herself away and chose to live without any desire for light or beauty after a traumatic experience where she was rejected by her first love. Sunako is a lover of solitude, gory movies, anatomical dolls and objects that reflect the "ugly" side of life as she puts it; her interests resulted in her distorted view of reality and isolation contributed to her low self-esteem.She is intelligent, talented in numerous areas, particularly cooking, and is an exceptionally strong fighter. However, by living with Kyouhei and the other boys, she gradually interacts with other people and slowly sheds her anti-social tendencies. She has especially mixed feelings about Kyouhei and as the storyline progresses, their relationship becomes more solid and intimate.Kyouhei Takano

Voiced by: Showtaro Morikubo (Japanese), Josh Grelle (English), Live-Action: Kazuya Kamenashi

The most popular and physically attractive of the foursome, Kyouhei is initially seen as selfish, blunt, demanding, and having no inclination to be gentle towards Sunako unless it will reduce rent. Kyouhei's unnaturally good looks resulted in a history of unfortunate experiences: he is unable to hold a job because he prone to being sexually harassed and he left his hometown because his family was unable to take the strain of his fans constantly harassing and mobbing them. Because of these experiences, he is able to empathesize with Sunako best; he develops a solid relationship with her and protects her when she needs him to. However, his own unresolved feelings for her mean that he is unafraid to take advantage of her weaknesses or provoke her rage. Kyouhei enjoys fighting and loves to eat, especially Sunako's cooking. Strawberries and fried shrimp are his favorite foods.Takenaga Oda (織田 武長 Oda Takenaga?)

Voiced by: Tomokazu Sugita (Japanese), Vic Mignogna (English), Live-Action: Hiroki Uchi

A serious and intelligent young man from a wealthy family of ikebana masters. Takenaga is usually the voice of reason amongst the foursome and the least fazed by Sunako's morbid habits. However, he is emotionally reserved as a result of extreme pressure as his family's heir; as a result, Takenaga is too shy to express his feelings towards his girlfriend, Noi. As the manga progresses, he becomes more social and open about himself.Yukinojo "Yuki" Toyama

Voiced by: Yuuya Yamaguchi (Japanese), Greg Ayres (English), Live-Action: Yuya Tegoshi

A gentle and kind boy who is devoted to his friends, Yuki comes from an ordinary family to board with the Landlady, who is a friend of his mother's. He is the most innocent and easily frightened of the four, especially in regards to entering Sunako's room. Because of his effeminate features, he is often reluctantly forced to dress up like a girl, which has led to self-esteem issues.Ranmaru Morii

Voiced by: Hirofumi Nojima (Japanese), Chris Patton (English), Live-Action: Shuntaro Miyao

Ranmaru is a notorious playboy who is the only son of a wealthy family of hotel chain owners. He is extroverted, confident, and a self-professed expert of love and women, having dated many older married women. However, he has a good heart and cares for his friends and is the most active in the goal towards making Sunako into an ideal lady. He is later engaged to a reserved and sheltered girl, whose unusual attitude towards him creates mixed feelings and makes him unsure of his playboy ways.

A Girl? and she's a Knight!!! - Hana No Kishi (Manga)

This is the manga that I've been reading now. Its an interesting manga series. First off, this is a shoujo manga and it much be treated as such. Means kick ass protagonist, obvious plot line, simplicity, conspiracy, drama over drama, tragedy, love triangle and a romantic note with an equally obvious pairing! if you are not into shoujo type manga you most probably wont enjoy this manga.

when i first read this manga i really thought this Ran kurano is a cool and hot guy. She had a strong build, tall, dark hair and always act cool doing her duty as next Otori heir Sei sama bodyguard.

Ever since the day Ran's older brother was killed while protecting Sei sama, she dedicated her skills and life to one day become the 1st knight of the next head of the Ohtori family, even concealing the fact that she's a women forever. For generation the Kurano family has served the Ohtori family as their 1st knight, but 11 other lower knight with ill intentions of using the Ohtori family authority vie for that title. Not only that, but sei sama is being tested for being suitable for the title of head of the family. Upon entering Saint Locks Academy, the days of both Ran and Sei's trials begin.

Ran always distance herself from other people and really dedicated her life to sei sama, but everything change when she meet with tennou Ibara, a carefree guy and always acting as he please and he is a sei sama fiance. Ran doesn't like ibara sama way of life and she always to protective to sei sama. By the chance ibara sama knows Ran big secret that She is a girl.

The story goes that Ran had so many rival that want to take her position as sei sama 1st knight that wearing a black glove. From time to time there always a duel invitation for Ran from 11 other lower rank white glove knight, that make ibara sama irritated and angry as Ran always be in danger. But their relationship is deeper and deeper. Both of them aware about their own feeling but dare not to show to each other.
