Girls' Generation (SNSD) and Rain Win Seoul Cultural Arts Awards
CONGRATS!!!!!!! they deserve it....
Rain and girl group SNSD won special awards at the “2nd Seoul Cultural Arts Awards” held on Monday at the Seoul Olympic Gymnasium Hall. Run by the Seoul Cultural Arts Association, this annual awards show is organized to recognize the most impressive cultural and arts figure of the year.
SNSD won the “Pop Music Award” after selling over 200,000 copies of its second album, “Oh!” this past year. They also made it to the top of Korean music charts with consecutive singles, “Run Devil Run” and “Hoot.” The nine-member girl group even advanced to Japan, making great strides as Asia’s biggest star celebrity. SNSD has also won the top award at “The 20th High-One Seoul Pop Music Awards,” “The 2ndMelon Music Awards,” and “The 25th Golden Disk Awards.” It was a great day for SM Entertainment (SME) as Lee Soo Man, CEO of SME, also won the “Pop Music Producer’s Award.”
Singer/actor Rain, in recognition of his achievements for advancing beyond Asia and into Hollywood, received the “World Star Award.” Despite mainly focusing on local activities as an actor for KBS drama “The Fugitive: Plan B” this past year, Rain’s global prominence was enough for the awarding committee to acknowledge him. “I don’t know if I deserve this award,” Rain said. “I’ll do my best to justify the name of the award.”
