Jang Geun Suk Expected to Surpass Bae Yong Joon

Pop sensation Jang Geun Suk is projected to make more than 40 billion won (38 million USD) in revenues from Japan this year, which would make him one of the most profitable Korean celebrities since Bae Yong Joon.

Japanese media Nikkan Gendai reported, “Jang Geun Suk is expected to make at least 40 billion won off of album, concert ticket, photo book, and character merchandise sales, as well as advertisement deals in this year alone. He received 800 million won (751,000 USD) from the Suntori Seoul Makgeolli commercial, and it looks like his revenue might surpass that of Hallyu star Bae Yong Joon. Under this pace, Jang Geun Suk’s single commercial fee will easily go over 1 billion won (939,000 USD) next year. A bunch of companies are already waiting to film a commercial with him.”

The singer/actor has sold over 120,000 copies of his Japanese debut single, “Let Me Cry,” in April, becoming the first foreign artist to reach #1 on Oricon Weekly Charts in the first week of release. Also, his photo album“J Plus” received more than 50,000 pre-order sales, as Nikkan Gendai forecasted his album and photo book sales should exceed 8 billion won (7.5 million USD) this year.

Jang Geun Suk is scheduled to go on a Japanese Tour later this year. From his ticket and merchandise sales, Jang Geun Suk is expected to rake in another 17 billion won (16 million USD) in revenue. Nikkan Gendai said,“Just from his merchandise sales, Jang Geun Suk would be able to make 100 million yen a day.”

Meanwhile, Jang Geun Suk became the first Korean celebrity to be featured on the front cover of Japan’s famous magazine, “Men’s Non No.” In March, he was also the front cover model for Japanese weekly magazine “Anan,” which sold a record-high 280,000 copies.

Jang Geun Suk has become the first ever Korean celebrity to land on the front cover of a famous Japanese magazine named “MEN’S NONNO“!

The actor recently modeled five different outfits for his first photoshoot with the magazine and earned the praise of Japanese staff for his ability to exude an infinite amount of charms. With his youthful energy, he was said to have perfected looks ranging from pretty boy to powerful and masculine.

One staff commented, “He has a surprising amount of focus. Even while dancing to his favorite songs while on break, he’ll go right into the poses the photographer asks of him once filming starts. We were all captivated with the way he paid attention to every single staff on set, and we were able to see how genuine and hard working he was by the way he was trying his best to pick up the atmosphere.”
