Super Junior and SHINee put their names on the Oricon top ten single/album chart

The Oricon Chart, the most renowned Japanese music chart, showed on December 8 that Super Junior’s second Japanese single, “Mr. Simple,” released on December 7, vaulted to the first place on the Daily Single Chart on the same day of its release. Considering that the leading group of the Korean Wave has yet settled down to the advancement into Japan, it can be viewed satisfactory. Super Junior’s first Japanese single, “Bonamana,” released in June this year, climbed to the second position on the Daily Oricon Chart.

The power of K-pop singers was also reflected in the Oricon Album Chart.

SHINee released its first Japanese regular album, The First, on December 7, vaulting to the third position on the Oricon Daily Album Chart without any hesitation. SHINee’s second single “Juliet,” released at the end of August this year, also ranked top on the Oricon Daily Album Chart. These records well reflect how popular they are in Japan these days.

Kara, a representative Korean girl group which carries out passionate activities in Japan, is still remaining on higher positions of the Oricon Daily Album Chart with its new Japanese regular album, Super Girl. When the album was released on November 23, the album immediately took the first position of the same chart.

On the December 8 chart, six Korean singer groups were included among top ten best singles and albums

In this special drama, the plot will exhibit elements from the original storyline, such as Akane’s discord with her father when he suddenly determines Ranma to be her fiancee, as well as Ranma’s various scuffles with enemies during his mission to find the hot spring that will cure his condition.

It’s raining Hallyu in Malaysia!

One of the leading newspapers in Malaysia, The Star, has featured a story of the last Saturday’s concert in their Entertainment section, which was the Most Amazing (MO.A) 2011 Live in Malaysia. It is reported that despite the gloomy weather at the beginning of the show, the 7000-strong audience had came prepared by slipping into their ponchos – majority in sapphire blue (you know what that means!). Of course, their devotion were totally rewarded!
Miss A came first to take the stage – and thank God the drizzle stopped, – in their all-black attire and flaunted their saccharine vocals through their popular songs like Goodbye Baby, Breathe, Bad Girl, Good Girl and also Lady Gaga’s Pokerface. The girls also greeted the crowd in Korean, Mandarin, English and Bahasa Melayu in between the songs.
Then B1A4 were welcomed by the crowd by delivering five songs that won over the hearts of many fans with their youthful appeal and Sandeul’s strong vocals.
The third act then took off the stage, it’s none other than f(x)! These girls came off girlish and playful with their cute stage costume. Even without Krystal, the other girl mesmerized the audience with their doll-like faces and playful antics as they performed their debut single La chA TA. Amber was the crowd’s favourite as they turned into a frnzy whenever the camera zoomed in on her. The girls even exclaimed, “(It’s) so hot!” before singing into the next tune, Hot Summer.
Right after f(x)’s Pinnochio, it was at last the “highlight” of the night – Super Junior! Making their grand entrance with Superman, they also came up with their cool and awesome dance moves throughout their popular number such as Mr Simple. Lee Teuk, as the “special” leader of the handsome-looking group, even greeting the crowd with, “Assalamualaikum! (Peace be upon you)“. Yesung, one of the lead vocals with soothing sweet voice then went solo with It Has to be You, an OST of Cinderella’s Stepsister. Apart from that, those SuJu guys even made the crowd extra happy by handing out their autographed T-shirts when singing Marry U. “There’re so many beautiful girls in Malaysia,” teased Lee Teuk, before ended their performance with their famous hits Bonamanaand Sorry Sorry.
After Super Junior ended their performance, all the four acts came out for their last time to thank the impressive fans.Lee Teuk was especially appreciative, rushing to the front stage, bowing and thanking the crowd in different languages including Japanese. Lee Teuk will officially enlist and begin his two-year mandatory military next year.

How Much Does It Cost to Maintain an Idol Girl Group in 1 month?

How much money does it take to dress, feed, and shelter a girl group?

According to Y Star, a Korean cable channel, the figure comes out to 65 million won per month for a popular 7-member girl group. The figure translates into approximately $60,000 United States dollars.

The biggest drain on money, not unexpectedly, is for the monthly rent on their dormitories. Approximately $22,000 dollars are spent on sheltering a girl group each month.

Apart from that, money spent on hair and makeup comes to a whopping $19,000 dollars per month – and that’s with a 50 percent celebrity discount. For skin care, companies invest $9,000 dollars to keep their idols looking blemish-free.

Add in the miscellaneous expenses – $10,000 dollars for food and transportation – and the companies are looking at nearly $60,000 dollars per month to keep their stars on top.

HAPPY CHUSEOK DAY!!! TO ALL KOREAN

It’s that time of the year again where the front page of all K-pop website or blog gets loaded up with pretty pictures of celebrities in colorful hanboks, in addition to a vast coverage of exciting Chuseok variety specials. It's a 3 days National holiday in korea which starting 1 day before the chuseok day and 1 day after the chuseok.

For new K-Pop fans unfamiliar with Korean culture, it can seem like all of the colors just came out of the blue, but Chuseok is actually one of the four major holidays celebrated in Korea. So what are your idols heading home to? Check it out below!

Chuseok is sometimes referred to as the ‘Korean Thanksgiving’, ‘Hangawi‘, ‘Jungchujul‘, or ‘Gabe‘ and is celebrated on the brightest full moon of the year, which occurs in mid-August on the lunar calendar. Unlike Western society, Koreans still use the lunar calendar for important dates, so a lot of their holidays are centered around the moon and its cycle. For 2011, the day of Chuseok falls on September 12th and in 2012, the holiday will be celebrated on September 30th. Chuseok is essentially a celebration of a good harvest, as it’s around this time that grains and fruits will be at their ripest and freshest for harvesting. To celebrate a year of successful farming, families will all pack up and head home to their ancestral hometowns and ‘bon-ga‘ (directly translated to ‘main house’, but it’s usually the home of the oldest or head of the household, e.g., grandparents, parents), where they’ll dress up in traditional clothing, cook delicious food, and pay their respects to their ancestors.

As you’ve probably noticed by now, respect for the elderly is a highly important trait for Koreans. Chuseok isn’t simply just a feast celebration, as there are three major duties that must be completed:

1. ‘bulcho‘: Weeds and such that have grown around the graves of family members all summer long must be picked and discarded.

This is an especially important task for families because Korea (and Asian society in general) places a lot of emphasis on saving face before the public. When one commits a mistake, the first thought isn’t, “Oh no, I am embarrassed,” it’s usually, “What would others think of this mistake?”

Graves with weeds still growing around them after the Chuseok holiday will make others assume that they have undutiful children, and is considered an embarrassment for the family.

2. ‘sungmyo‘: Respect must be paid to the grave, often in the form of bowing before it and offering alcohol, fruits, meat, and shikhye.

3. ‘charye‘: An elaborate table setting of food offered to the ancestors at home. There are several meticulous steps to setting this up and doing it properly, like lighting candles before the alcohol is poured in exactly three different cups and bowing twice after it. Each dish also has a specific area of the table it needs to go on.

Once the tasks are completed, it’s time to play. These games are outdated and families will normally gather to just chat and drink after dinner or play go-stop, but they’re still often put on display at public events.

1. ‘kangkangsullae‘: A game specifically for women, where several dozens will gather under the moon and dance in a circle, linking arms.

2. ‘sonori’/'geobuknori‘: Two people will throw on a cape made of hanji (traditional Korean paper made from mulberry trees) and run around town under the guise of a cow or a turtle, going from house to house, asking for food. The food will often be shared with families who cannot afford Chuseok meals.

Others include wrestling, cow fighting (a display of how well you fed and raised your cow all summer long), tug of war, and archery.

If you’ve been keeping up with the Chuseok interviews here on allkpop, you’ve probably noticed that a lot of the stars just can’t wait to make and eat songpyeon.

Songpyeon is one of the representative food items of Chuseok, and it’s made from the newly harvested rice. It’s essentially a small, crescent-shaped rice cake that contains either red beans, chestnuts, jujubes, powdered sesame, or just brown sugar.

When you make the songpyeon, you make a wish as you scoop in the contents and carefully fold it up into a crescent shape so that your wish doesn’t fall out.

SO HAPPY CHUSEOK DAY TO ALL KOREAN. WISH YOU HAPPINESS AND ENJOY THE HOLIDAY.

Help me Mr.Life Saver!!!! - Poseidon

This drama is the story of the members life savers of the coast guard.

The drama is based on the special duties of the Korean Coast Guard officers (rescues, terrorism threats, and other special missions) and also their obstacle in life and love. The drama takes its name from the Poseidon Team, a special forces unit of the Marines.

Using the strong bonds of humanity as a basis, and through the challenges faced by the protagonists and their spirit of self-sacrifice, the drama movingly shows the significance of life and the stories of how people overcome obstacles in life.

The plot of “Poseidon” is based around the self-sacrificing work lives of four elite maritime policemen, and had originally cast Shinhwa‘s Eric, Kim Ok Bin, Kim Kang Woo, and TVXQ‘s Jung Yunho.

A representative of the producing team stated, “As Korea’s first ever maritime drama series, we believe viewers will be able to feel a sense of satisfaction as they follow a string of mysterious police cases. Viewers will be able to confirm for themselves the grand scale and roughness of Korea’s beaches.”

Because of the uncertainty hanging around the status of the drama earlier, the original cast had all left for other projects and work is being done to get a new cast on board as soon as possible. The drama’s production company, KBS, announced on August 1st that actor Lee Sung Jae, actressLee Si Young, and actor/singer Choi Siwon would be the main leads for the drama.

“Poseidon” had met with a lot of issues and was originally scheduled to air in March through SBS. Unfortunately, plans fell through and the original cast – comprised of Eric, Kim Kang Woo, Kim Ok Bin, and TVXQ‘s Yunho – subsequently left for other projects.

So now my most handsome Choi siwon will be the lead actor in this drama. Can wait to see him in action after his last drama Athena and Oh My Lady last year.  Before we look at the picture let's watch the teaser first...roleeee baby....
