KPOP - Idols are the top choice for endorsements

Move over movie stars!! the idols are here to take over your endorsements. ^_^

Brand 38 Institute conducted a 10-day study poll where they showed 1,012 people over the age of 17 a list of 239 celebrities.

This was not a study to show which celebrity has the most number of ads, but to determine which celebrity people think has the most ads because they’ve seen those stars in CFs and posters so many times.

The results showed that 16.01% of those people thought 2PM was the one they frequently see in ads so these boys took the #1 spot. Second place went to MC Yoo Jae Suk with 13.34% of the votes.SNSD came in third place with 11.86%. In fourth place was figure skater Kim Yuna, with 9.49%.

Check out a trailer for “Paradise Kiss: After School”!

Even though the movie “Paradise Kiss” (by Yazawa Ai) won’t be released until June 4th, the movie is already getting a spin-off, “Paradise Kiss: After School“.

Yukada Yuichi of “THE 3 People” will be doing the screenplay and storyline for the drama, which will be available via LISMO on au on May 6th.

The mobile drama is actually a prologue to the movie, and it will take place in George’s luxurious apartment, where we see him behave like no ordinary man performs. It’s a love comedy that is a little different from the movie.

A trailer for the “Paradise Kiss” spin-off drama, “Paradise Kiss: After School“, has just been revealed!

As we previously reported, “Paradise Kiss: After School” will be released as a mobile drama on May 6th, serving as a prologue to the upcoming movie. The story will take place in George’s apartment and is said to be a love comedy different from the plot of the main movie.

Take a look at the teaser below!

SM Entertainment to develop an entertainment complex

SM Entertainment, in a consortium along with two real estate development companies, Fides and M Studio City, have been selected as developers of a new visual-cultural-recreational complex (yeah man, seriously, that’s what they named that thing), titled “Jo Kam Do“, literally meaning, “Bird’s Eye View”.

Now here comes the wall of text about basic info of the place: City of Munkyung in Northern Kyungsang province, where the complex will be built, selected the three companies for development of its ambitious project. The complex will cost Munkyung 43 billion Won ($40 million U.S.) and the total area of 888,168㎡ will be divided up into three sectors; Sae Jae, Ga Eun, Ha Nae, with construction of Sae Jae beginning this year. The first sector, planned to be complete within the first half of 2012, will include indoor and outdoor filming studios, recreational facilities such as spa and water park, visual section with stages for performances and facilities for autograph sessions, and so on.

Now is the more relevant part for those of you that are wondering where SM comes into all of this.

Since this park is being built in the countryside far away from Seoul, Korea’s capital that is famously holding close to half of the national population in its area, it needs to differentiate itself from other theme parks and recreational complexes in order for people from Seoul to travel down there and keep the area alive by feeding it cash. That, is where our friends in the idol business come in; as they provide the complex with the contents of their company. Different zones named after their celebrities, including, but not limited to, SNSD, TVXQ, Super Junior, SHINee, f(x), and BoA, will be offering fan meetings and autograph sessions.

There is also a plan to have the stars stay at the hotel in the complex and then name the room that they stayed in after them, so that their fans would want to stay in the same room their idol did.

Might sound a bit weird or creepy, but hey, there are people out there that are willing to spend extra just so they can sleep in the same bed that Changmin or Yuri did. In short, SM’s involvement is to spice the complex up with some flavour of its idols.

SM is not the only entertainment industry representative in the game though; movie director Kang Jae Kyu is to take part in this project as a shareholder and shoot his movies in the studios in this complex. Mr. Kang was the director of Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War, the 4th highest-grossing film in Korean history, so I guess we can say he is pretty famous… making him a strong ally.

The city of Munkyung doesn’t really have many tourist attractions, and the complex is planned around the concept that it will create itself; that is, unlike the traditional method of putting hotels/restaurants/bars where a tourist attraction already exists (like a beach or a hot spring), they’re building the tourist attraction themselves along with all those other things – like a Disney Land.

In this case, the major attraction isn’t Mickey and Snow White; it is what SM has to offer. It is really up to them to get people down there and spend money. Will Jo Kam Do become a major attraction and a centre of hallyu wave, or will we end up studying about it in business class as a case of complete failure? Whatever the result may be, I look forward to writing about this baby in future.

Can’t wait for them to finish building it. Can you?

Stay tuned to allkpop for a few years as they build that thing from scratch.

What scene from a romance manga would you most like to experience?

goo recently held a fun romance poll, asking women to choose which romantic scenes from a manga they would most like to experience for themselves.

Coming in with the most votes was “holding me from behind and saying ‘I like you’”, probably because this rarely occurs in real life and is a situation mostly encountered solely in manga and anime. Second place went to “inviting me a bit forcefully by saying ‘come with me today’”, which voters found cute because it reveals the guy’s true feelings.

Check out the full ranking for this cute poll below! i love this....Kyaa

01. Holding me from behind and saying, “I like you”.
02. Inviting me out by saying a bit forcefully, “Come with me today.”
03. Patting my head and saying, “Do your best!”
04. Having the person I’ve always asked for love advice fall in love with me.
05. Kissing me when I turn my head around.
06. Looking worried and looking at me straight in the face, asking, “What happened?”
07. Fighting for my attention.
08. Suddenly taking me by the chin and kissing me.
09. Pulling me onto the train as soon as the departure bell rings when I come to see him off.
10. Wiping my tears and saying, “Don’t cry like that.”
The one i'm highlighted with RED color is my Favorite ^_^. So what is yours?

“Paradise Kiss” to come out as a live action movie!

Have you ever read the manga “Paradise Kiss” by Yazawa Ai? ”Paradise Kiss” is a love story, but at the same time, focused on fashion. Although there’s already an anime version, fashion magazine “Zipper” announced that “Paradise Kiss” will also be released as a movie!. I do watch the anime but yet to read the manga. Maybe later i will post some preview for the manga and anime.

Main character, Hayasaka Yukari, will be played by Kitagawa Keiko, and Mukai Osamu will play Jo-ji (George). As other cast members, Yamamoto Yusuke, Igarashi Shunji, Kaku Kento, Ohmasa Aya, and Kato Natsuki will also make appearances, but their roles have not been announced yet.

“Isabella” role casted, sneak peeks for “Paradise Kiss” revealed!

The film’s release date has been set for May 2011, but to indulge the hungry fans, some scene stills as well as a more-detailed cast list has just been revealed!

Igarashi Shunji (D-BOYS) will play the role of Isabella (actual birth name, ‘Yamamoto Daisuke’). ‘Isabella’ is a transgendered character who identifies herself as a woman by dressing and acting like one. To prepare for the role, Shunji lost 8 kg., removed his facial hair through laser procedures, and learned how to act like a lady (as Isabella is very well-mannered, feminine person).

Shunji revealed that he uses three false eyelashes on each eye. He also confessed, “I learned how hard it is to live as a woman through make-up and stuff, and to be honest, I almost got into it (to disguise in woman’s clothes).” ”Paradise Kiss” will also star Ohmasa Aya as ‘Sakurada Miwako‘ and Kaku Kento as ‘Nagase Arashi. Check out the sneak pics from the filming scene below!

The poster includes the catchphrase of the movie, which is “Encounter by Destiny? That’s not enough to describe it.”

It’s been reported that many apparel brands supplied their latest wardrobe to shape George’s unique fashion, so it will be one of the highlights of the movie, as well as the original ending which was made specifically for the film.

In the new poster, Kitagawa Keiko, Mukai Osamu, Yamamoto Yusuke, Igarashi Shunji, Ohmasa Aya, Kaku Kento, and Kato Natsuki pose at their “atelier”, which was designed with various ideas in order to catch the essence of the original manga set.

Before the official release, there will be advance tickets on sale starting on the 26th; those who purchase the advance tickets will receive a special clear file, which has limited quantities.

“Arakawa Under the Bridge” live-action adaption

Hayashi Kento & Kiritani Mirei to star in “Arakawa Under the Bridge” live-action adaption

Recently it was announced that Nakamura Hikaru’s unique romantic comedy manga “Arakawa Under the Bridge” – serialized in the Young GanGan magazine – will be turned into a live-action adaption starring Hayashi Kento and Kiritani Mirei.

“Arakawa Under the Bridge” is a story about Ichinomiya “Riku” Kou, a young upper-class man who tries to live a life without any debts to anyone, and a strange yet beautiful homeless girl called Nino who claims to be from the Venus. Unfortunately for him, he ends up owing his life to Nino and has no choice but to live with her under the bridge by the Arakawa river in order to follow his debt-free policy. In 2010, the manga was already made into an anime that spawned two seasons.

Hayashi about the movie: “My younger sister is a huge fan of the manga and was really happy when she heard that I might be part of the live-action adaption. The manga has a lot of comedy elements and I was eagerly waiting for a chance to try out filming a live-action version someday myself. In the end the filming really turned out to be a lot of fun. Everyone from the director to the staff was really attached to the project. “

Kiritani about her role as a self-proclaimed Venusian: “Since there are no real Venusians I could study for this role, I had no choice but to come up with my own idea of a Venusian. Before the filming I actually tried to live like Nino by wearing slippers and a jersey every day and became very picky about my hairstyle, since I didn’t want to destroy the image of the original character. I had to go and dye my hair around three times before I was satisfied with the result. By the way, this is a custom-made jersey.”

The live-action movie of “Arakawa Under the Bridge” is scheduled to open in spring of 2012, but TBSalready announced that we are also going to see a drama adaption airing in a midnight slot later this summer.

New May Drama Lineups: Return of Lee Min Ho, JYJ Yoochun, Jang Nara, Yoon Eun Hye and Others to the Small Screen

May is the month of spring fever and romance. Fierce spiteful women turn into delicate soft-hearted creatures as do our small screen characters. Money and inheritance takes the back seat to love. Six new dramas are slated for May premieres, and viewers can anticipate the comeback of several top celebrities, as well as the return of star screenwriters. Fans can happily pick and choose which dramas to watch depending on their tastes.

KBS2 Mon/Tues Baby-Faced Beauty (Airs May 2nd) – Bright Girl’s Success Story once more?

Most Korean drama female protagonists have a tendency to lack something – whether it be money or family or something else depends on the plot – and the story revolves around how this female lead was able to conquer all obstacles and find happiness. Baby-Faced Beauty’s So Young (Jang Nara) is a 34 year old single woman, a high school graduate, and a credit delinquent. The only thing that works to her advantage is her young looks. Jin Wook (Choi Daniel) plays her love interest. The only thing Jin Wook looks for in a girl is her age – she must not be older than he. The catch? Jin Wook is a young twenty-something year old guy who looks older than he really is. Baby-Faced Beauty takes place in the fast-paced fashion world. The real challenge the drama will face is how realistically it will be able to portray the fashion industry.

MBC Wed/Thurs The Best Love (Airs May 4rth ) – Another Hong Sisters hit?

If you’ve been following Korean dramas, you’re probably aware of the Hong sisters. They’ve written mega-popular trendy dramas like Delightful Girl Choon-Hyang (2005), Hong Gil Dong (2008), My Girlfriend is a Nine-tailed Fox (2010), and many others. This time, they work their magic on the topic of celebrity fake marriages. Korean fans are known to be extreme, they’ve even earned the nickname “netizen investigators” (netizen = internet + citizens) for being able to dig celebrities’ veiled pasts. The topic of pretend marriages has also been popular thanks to MBC’s reality show We Got Married. The Best Love centers around former idol star Goo Ae Jung (Gong Hyo Jin) and current A-list actor Dok Go Jin (Cha Seung Won) as they strike a deal to “marry.”

SBS Mon/Tues Lie To Me (Airs May 9th ) – A lie sparked romance?

There have been many dramas in the past where the two leads get entangled in a misunderstanding and eventually fall in love. Yoon Eun Hye’s new drama Lie to Me is one of those dramas. Gong Ah Jung (Yoon Eun Hye) is a level 5 civil servant working for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In order to escape the biased views people have towards unmarried woman, she lies and claims she's married to a well-known hotel CEO Hyun Ki Joon (Kang Ji Hwan). Judging by their previous works like Yoon Eun Hye’s Princes Hours (2006) and Kang Ji Hwan’s My Girlfriend is an Agent, both actors are pretty strong in the rom-com genre; and viewers can expect great bickering on-screen chemistry between these two.

KBS2 Wed/Thurs Romance Town (Airs May 11st) – Suspicious housemaid coming through?!

Chaebols and housemaids are nothing new in Korean drama land. However, most dramas tend to focus on the extravagent lives of chaebols. Romance Town will turn its attention to the maids working for the chaebols. Two beautiful actresses, Sung Yuri of bubble-gum pop girl group Fin.K.L and Min Hyo Rin, will star as housemaids. Sung Yuri plays a third generation housemaid who’s though and relentless, while Min Hyo Rin plays an attractive teenaged housemaid. Additionally, their two bosses, the madams of the house, do not make their lives any easier.

SBS Wed/Thurs City Hunter (Airs May 25th) – Manga + Lee Min Ho = success?

Tsukasa Hojo’s manga City Hunter is finally getting a drama adaptation. His original manga series was published in Japanese manga magazine Boy Jump from 1985 to 1992. The series have sold over a million copies in Korea. Lee Min Ho is no stranger to portraying manga characters. He shot to stardom in 2009 playing Goo Joon Pyo in Boys Before Flowers. However, his City Hunter character is completely different from the former. Lee Min Ho plays Lee Yoon Sung, a MIT graduate who works at the Blue House as part of the National Communications Team. He’s affectionate, caring, and optimistic but battles loneliness. Lee Min Ho is currently busy in Thailand for overseas filming.

MBC Mon/Tues Ripley (Airs May 30th) – Will it meet the expectations?

Ripley has the latest air date out of all the May premiering dramas, and it’s also been making headlines ever since talks about producing it were underway. News about casting JYJ member Park Yoo Chun has fueled much of the anticipations. This melodrama centers around an ambitious woman who does anything and everything she can to gain whatever she wants – that is until her extensive lies catch up to her. Ripley has a much heavier plot than the rest of the spring dramas, which tend to be more trendy and light. Actors Kim Seung Woo, Lee Da Hae, Park Yoo Chun, and Kang Hye Jung have been casted as leads.
